What Makes Greatness

The enamel of greatness, most durable and strong

Resisting the ware of the everyday

It grinds against its imperfectness till it shines

The sun dings against greatness’ edges

That is where we see it as it is

Translucent, not hiding who they are

We see their faces, bones and blood

Although we believed in its toughness

It is brittle too and flakes off with ease

For we too must break a little

To grow stronger again

The enamel of greatness, brittle and flaky

There are very few so delicate

That could be considered great
