To Feel
We are only human
It is only human to feel
All the pleasures of life
To feel its equal un-satisfaction
That we can move within ourselves
Through the best and worse of times
Still finding the balance
The love for ourselves
That hold us through all of life’s journey
Moving us from the spectrum of feeling
Allowing us to find and to explore ourselves
Within the tides of emotion

The Girl By The Water
Across the water I keep
The young memory of me
Naïve and wonton
Splashing on the shore
Allowing the spray to coat her clothes
She glances at me
But doesn’t know it’s her
Foolishly she falls in the sand laughing
I can’t help but smile too
Sand and water rest by her feet
It starts to rain
She pulls her head back
And opens her arms
To receive each droplet
Any she can grasp
Someone yell’s at her
“You’ll catch a cold”
She replies
“Not till tomorrow”
Falling onto her back
Tongue sticking out to the sky
She lays there drinking every drop of innocence
I walk away
Before she figures out
She was the shadow that came to visit
On that June day
With the news
Her innocence was gone

What I Missed While Inside
I came walking back
One July day
Sun to my back
On the road back to you
It has been so long
Since I’ve seen a friendly face
I worry that it won’t be the same
That old times will be forgotten
I come striding in
As a stranger
On your door step
That time made me unmemorable
A passing fragment
Floating in between
My eyes and yours
Of a time so long ago
Is asking for a hug too much
I’ve forgotten what it means to touch
To hold
To feel someone else beside me
Than my cold pillow
Someone else’s voice to say
Everything will be fine
You need not be alone
